“Her Majesty The Queen, at her Coronation, promised to serve the people and to ensure justice was delivered in the Kingdom. Following her example, once a year, for one hour, Her Majesty’s Judges and others attend the Cathedral and by doing so acknowledge a higher authority than themselves, one recognised by all faiths as a merciful judge.”
The service is to be held in Liverpool Cathedral at 10.30am on Sunday 17th October 2021. It is sponsored by the High Sheriff of Merseyside and hosted by the Dean of the Cathedral. Her Majesty the Queen is represented by the Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside.
In attendance and processing are the judiciary from the High Court, Crown and County Courts, Tribunals and Magistrates Courts together with the Lord Mayor and the Mayors of the Boroughs, High Sheriffs of adjacent counties, The Chief Constable and senior academic and administrative members of the legal profession.
Police Cadets, Army, Navy and Air Force Cadets, together with Scouts, Boys Brigade, Guides and others line the processional route.
David Steer Esq. QC DL, Chair of Merseyside Scouts is inviting up to 100 of our members at this year’s service: “Those who attended in 2019 (there was only a virtual Service last year due to the pandemic) will recall that we had a full turnout of 100 and it was hugely impressive. I am sending this ‘Save the Date’ notice for your assistance in planning for this year’s event. I hope that by October the current restrictions will have been removed and the Service can take place as normal.”
The service is open to all. We will send out a formal invitation nearer the time.
