County Youth Leads
Lucy James
Hi I’m Lucy, and I’m one of Merseyside’s Lead Volunteers for Youth. I’ve been in Scouting for about 5 years now, but my journey really started since I was a baby. My parents both met through Scouting and Guiding and since then it has been a part of my life for over 20 years now. I officially joined Scouting as an Explorer when I joined Griffin ESU in Sefton North in 2014. In 2019, I was appointed Youth Commissioner for Sefton North, working closely with our volunteers and young people to deliver youth shaped scouting for all. I’m really looking forward to taking on a new challenge as Merseyside’s Lead Volunteer for Youth, alongside Charlie. I’m super excited to meet you all and can’t wait to get started.

I joined Scouts aged 6 as a Beaver in Crosby and have gone through all of the sections since then. Since turning 18, I have become a leader for Beavers and Squirrels in the same group that I joined over 12 years ago. Scouting has given me more opportunities than I could have ever thought possible, whether that is by going on my first camp in 2012 to most recently supporting other volunteer organisations at the coronation of HM King Charles III, and it has allowed me to make friendships with people from every corner of the UK and beyond. I am looking forward to working with Lucy as we take on the role of Merseyside’s County Youth Leads and help support the District Youth Leads in making Merseyside to be one that is shaped by the young people from across all 140 groups in our county.
