Massive congratulations to our newest King’s Scout Award Recipients; Naomi, Lestyn, and Ben, who received their award at an exclusive King’s Scout Dinner hosted by Merseyside Scouts in the Directors Box at Aintree Racecourse tonight. Also congratulations to Jack who couldn’t make our exclusive award celebration.
Our County Lead Volunteer, Chris along with Nikki (Team Lead for Programme Delivery), Lee (Top Awards Lead), and our Youth Leads Lucy and Charlie were present to help award the top award a Young Person can achieve in The Scouts.
The Vice Lord Lieutenant Dr Ruth Hussey CB OBE DL was there representing the Lord Lieutenant who is the King’s representative in Merseyside. Along with the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Deputy Lieutenants; County Chair David Steer KC DL and County Vice President Peter Oliver OBE DL were in attendance.
The King’s Scout Award is the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members and comprises a variety of activities to complete. It’s closely linked to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. In order to achieve the award, the Young People must have completed:
- 24 Nights Away (12 must have been camping)
- 6 Activities from the International (x2), Communities (x2), and Values (x2) list
- 1 Presentation delivered about thier King’s Scout experience
- Hold the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award or complete the King’s Scout Challenges!
- Once all the above has been completed, they will be signed off.
