Norwood Primary School have "Best Trip Ever" at Tawd Vale Adventure Centre!

Tawd Vale Adventure Centre recently hosted a visit by Year 2 of Norwood Primary School in Southport. In total 82 young people aged 6 and 7 plus staff braved the rain to enjoy a day of adventure, mud and learning about the environment of our 80 acre woodland campsite.

Activities provided by the Team Tawd Volunteers included low ropes, team building activities, a nature trail, den building in the woods, bug hunting and pond dipping.

Teacher (and County Youth Commissioner) Alex Clark commented,

A highlight for so many of us was the campfire at Campfire Hollow where we sang songs and warmed up with some hot chocolate. The team organised everything for us and they did an amazing job, the day was seamless".

Here are some of the comments and highlights from Year 2 themselves!

It was soooooo much fun and we had the best school trip ever! (Teyah, age 6).

We went on the low ropes. The low ropes needed skills, bravery and confidence. We wore helmets and we worked in threes as a team to help each other balance. My favourite part was the big swing. (Hazel, age 6).

We had a campfire. We had warm, delicious hot chocolate!!! Then, we sang some songs and my favourite was ‘Everywhere We Go’ because I loved singing it loudly. (Archie, age 6).

We built a huge den using teamwork. The sticks were soggy and it was so muddy, my friends had to pull me out of the mud. It was hilarious. I loved playing in our secret dens. (Maizie, age 6).

Our last activity was pond dipping and bug hunting. In the pond dipping area I caught a water beetle. When we were bug hunting, I explained about different types of trees, evergreen and deciduous. (Libby, age 6).

Finally, we went home on the coach but I would LOVE to go back to Tawd Vale Adventure Centre again! (Leo, age 6).

Thank you so much, Team Tawd, for helping to give our pupils such a wonderful experience and a day of adventure in the mud. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
